Our trek was a 180 mile walk around the Annapurna Himal. We took a Toyota van from Katmandu to the
trailhead a Besisahar where the road ended. Then we hiked north up the Marsyangdi River, toward Tibet. We hiked almost
to the source of the Marsyangdi before we went over 17,700 foot Thorung La pass. This took us down into the Kali
Gandaki river valley. We hiked down the river for several days, and then left the river to cross Poon hill near
Ghorepani. A couple of days later we ended the trek in the neighborhood of Nepal's second largest city Pokhara.
One of the better books about the Annapurna circuit is -- Trekking in the Annapurna Region by Bryn Thomas. |
